The Royals have picked up where they left off last year, i.e. being disappointing, and they've been quite good at it. They've even flirted with being the worst team in baseball! It was fortunate that while we were mired in our measly eight-game losing streak, the Mets were having a twelve-game losing streak with $100 million more dollars of active payroll in a much bigger media market, so that took a lot of the attention off of us and our cheapskate flyover losing.
What we have attracted a lot of attention for, which seems to be largely positive,* is the latest iteration of our City Connect uniforms, which bear a more than passing resemblance to the bisexual pride flag. We've technically had these colors in our official city logo for years now, but somehow it's not as striking in the thin lines of the fountain/heart shape as it is on, say, the batting helmets, and now nobody can unsee it. Personally, I love this for us.

They say you can't win the division in April, but you can lose it. What they failed to reckon with in this aphorism is the uncompetitive nature of the 2026 American League Central Division. In spite of the dismal 12-19 start, we're all of 3.5 games out of first. The best this group can muster at the moment is two .500 teams. On the off-chance that the Royals are actually secretly decent, they could easily recover!
Meanwhile I've already turned my attention to the NFL draft and convincing myself that a handful of college kids are going to fix all the problems on my team.
