Yuletide Treasures

I feel like I made out like a bandit during Yuletide this year! I received this amazing Jacob Have I Loved fic from laurie_ipsum, in which they imagine a reunion between Louise and Call, with delayed confessions of love, ending in the realization that they're exactly where they're supposed to be in the end. There are also some pretty great one-liners. If I could somehow send this back in time to my angsty eleven-year-old self, I totally would.

I also received this sweet Fire and Blood Jace/Baela fic from Alley_Skywalker. Jace feels the chains of commanding and has a moment of romantic tension with Baela. It's a nice window into their psyches; how they must have felt constrained by duty but also perhaps unworthy and inadequate, which is a dynamic I love.

I also wanted to shout out my dearest mayhap (mayhap ), who is the entire reason I started doing Yuletide in the first place. She wrote this adorable fic based on M.M. Kaye's The Ordinary Princess. In the nearly two decades I've known her (we're both old AF for fandom!), I've never seen her write anything less than stellar, but I particularly love the whimsy of this one.

As for myself, I wrote "Skulls and Kisses," a House of the Dragon Joffrey/Laenor fic for v_v_lala. I have to admit I am rather proud of it, although I did go pretty hard with the word count. I felt blessed to have the opportunity to develop my own headcanons for them, write a story, and for the intellectual challenge of how to meld book and show canon. If you have a lot of free time, I'd love if you read/commented.
